Best Part of My Job:
The most rewarding part of my job is helping a pet with a serious illness make a recovery. Often, pets with severe conditions require hospitalization and being able to see that pet each day, be part of their care team, and follow their improvement is really special. Seeing that pet go home with their family is an incredible reward and makes the job worth it every day.
Special Talent:
While I wouldn’t say I’m an adrenaline junkie, I definitely thrive in a fast-paced environment. I enjoy the pressure of needing to think quickly on the job, as is the case with conditions like shock and anaphylaxis.
One Thing People May Not Know About Me:
In veterinary school, I did some volunteer work in Costa Rica and Nicaragua helping spay and neuter pets there. That work really highlighted the privilege we have here in the US to care for our pets like family. I was also able to learn a lot about Central American culture through this trip. Each time I travel, I look for ways to learn about that culture, and in particular how the people in that region care for their pets.
What You’ll Find Me Doing in My Free Time:
I grew up about 45 minutes from the Napa Valley, and my uncle was a chef for a long time. My family has always had an interest in food and good wine. Living in the Napa area afforded me some unique opportunities to learn about and learn to appreciate wine. Fortunately, my husband also loves good food and wine, so we have continued that learning and like to experience the area’s wines whenever we travel.
My Pet Family Includes:
Kenya, a 17 year old Siamese mix kitty, who has been with me since college and is the love of my life.
Chase, a 9 year old male pit mix who is a sweet, sensitive boy.
Rye, a 1 year old crazy male brindle mix who keeps me on my toes.
