Why I chose emergency medicine:
The most rewarding part of being an ER doctor is the immediacy of the impact. I’m drawn to emergency medicine because of the immediacy of care, where rapid intervention can quickly change the course of a critical situation. Supporting pet owners through these moments—especially when they can finally exhale after an unexpected crisis—is incredibly meaningful.
Equally important is communication. I adapt my approach to each family’s needs, whether that means providing detailed medical explanations or offering reassurance during difficult decisions. Helping people process challenging news and feel confident they are doing the best for their pet is a central part of my role. I also find it especially fulfilling to see patients transition from emergency care into successful ongoing treatment.
My special interests include:
Trauma and urgent (STAT) cases. I perform best in fast-paced, high-pressure situations, focusing on rapid stabilization and making critical decisions within narrow timeframes.
My special talents outside of work include:
I enjoy cooking and nearly pursued culinary school. I love creating meals from whatever is on hand, though classic mac and cheese remains a favorite. It was colleagues at a veterinary hospital early in my career who encouraged me to pursue veterinary medicine—a path I’m grateful to have followed.
What you’ll find me doing in my free time:
You’ll most likely find me tackling chores.
My pet family:
My home is shared with a lively group of rescues: five dogs (ages one to eleven), eleven chickens, a parrot, and a five-year-old betta fish who continues to outlive expectations.
