Why I chose the field of Internal Medicine:

I have always enjoyed evaluating complex internal medicine cases, including those that involve multi-systemic or rare diseases. I also enjoy performing advanced diagnostics including ultrasound and endoscopy as well as advanced lab testing used to help diagnose specific diseases. I have a lot of empathy for what my clients and their pets are going through and I really enjoy doing what I can to help them through such a difficult time.

Proof that I’m an animal lover:

I have rescued many dogs and cats over the years, bringing both me and them a happier life. I have also been volunteering with the service dog organization Canine Companions for over 8 years and am a Puppy Raiser and a Puppy Sitter for this company. I have raised my dog Flurry to become a Certified Therapy Dog with Canine Companions. Flurry and I visit with people in need such as children with cancer, bringing them comfort and happiness. Knowing that we can brighten someone’s day is a great reward!

How I contribute to the veterinary community:

I developed and instructed two courses for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) program: Small Animal Medicine and Pharmacology. Our RVTs are a really important and respected part of what we do and I enjoy contributing to their learning.

What you’ll find me doing in my free time:

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, learning French, spending time with my family and pets, hiking, paddleboarding, and traveling. One of my favorite destinations is visiting family in Canada. I also enjoy spending time at home with gardening and hands-on home projects.
